aProMag Kick Off Meeting
IDRIJA, Slovenia – A historic kick-off meeting took place on 15-17 Feb. 2023 in Idrija, the hometown of the Kolektor Group, marking the commencement of an ambitious new project, aProMag. Kolektor’s key stakeholders convened to discuss the project’s overarching goals and the workflow plan.
The meeting was opened with a warm welcome from Mr. Marjan Drmota, CEO of Mobility at Kolektor, followed by an insightful introduction to EIT Manufacturing by the project officer (PO), Dr. Gerhard Russ.
The project’s coordinator, Prof. Dr. Spomenka Kobe from the Jožef Stefan Institute (JSI), along with Dr. Boris Saje from Kolektor, presented a comprehensive overview of the project’s main objectives and the planned work flow. Their presentation underscored the collaborative nature of the project and the vital role each partner will play in bringing the project to fruition.
The attendees were each given an opportunity to introduce themselves and detail their role in the project, fostering a sense of unity and shared purpose. This inclusive session was followed by closing remarks which highlighted several key takeaways:
- A key aspect of this project is the education pillar, which includes the creation of learning videos to streamline knowledge transfer.
- Contracts are to be finalized shortly, which will officially cement the responsibilities of each project partner.
- The consortium agreement will be arranged by the team itself, outlining the division of royalties.
- Monthly meetings with the PO have been scheduled for the second Friday of each month at 11am, ensuring regular communication and progress tracking.
Post-meeting, the attendees were treated to a tour of the Kolektor factory, offering them first-hand insight into the company’s operations. The group later visited KFH in Logatec, where the main production of bonded permanent magnets – ferrite and NdFeB – is located. This visit included a guided tour of the whole production line, fostering a greater understanding of the manufacturing process.

aProMag Zoom Meetings
The aProMag project continues to make impressive strides towards achieving its goals. To maintain momentum and effective coordination, we have set up a routine of bi-monthly project Zoom meetings, along with monthly Zoom consultations with our Project Officer.
The aProMag project team comes together online twice a month to discuss the status and future trajectory of our project. These bi-monthly meetings serve as a platform for each team member to showcase their progress, address any challenges encountered, and strategize the action plan for the next few weeks. These virtual meetings foster a vibrant environment of collaboration, knowledge exchange, and forward-thinking.
In addition to these bi-monthly meetings, we hold monthly consultations with our Project Officer to ensure our project remains aligned with the set objectives and guidelines. These meetings provide us with an opportunity to discuss the project’s progress, address any concerns, and receive crucial feedback and guidance.
Our last meeting with the Project Officer occurred on 18 July 2023. The session focused on a thorough discussion of the project’s progress and the presentation of our mid-term report. The next bi-monthly project meeting with our partners is scheduled for Friday, 28 July 2023. We anticipate this session will be filled with insightful discussions and innovative ideas.
We invite our project stakeholders and all interested parties to join us in these meetings as we continue to innovate with the aProMag project. For more details on project progress and upcoming meetings, keep an eye on our News and Events section on the website.
